How to care for your nails
We’ve all heard the Nail Tech saying ‘Your nails are jewels not tools’ right? Well we actually say it for a reason. We care for your nails and so should you. Here are a few tips to help your nails stay healthy and beautiful.
Before having any form of nail extension its best to have your natural nails in the best condition you can. If you’re a nail biter for instance, we recommend to have regular fortnightly manicures to repair those damaged cuticles and your biting has curbed. This goes for pickers too, yeah, I see you.
Whether you’re having natural nail manicures, gel polish, or nail enhancements we ALWAYS recommend using a nourishing cuticle oil daily. This greatly improves the condition of your cuticles and can actually assist in the longevity of your manicure. Increasing circulation to your cuticle area, encouraging healthier new nail growth and softening the dead cuticle area, and even preventing product lifting when done correctly.
Consider your length of enhancements. Prioritse nail health over nail length. When getting a new set of nail extensions we will advise you to begin with adding no more than 1/3 of your natural nail plate length until you have the strength and natural nail length to support your enhancements. But with longer nails comes more maintenance and more regular infills to prevent damage.
Wear gloves where possible, especially times of prolonged water or dirt emersion eg- doing the dishes and gardening. And regularly use a hand cream particularly in winter months or after any form of chemical exposure.
Now get ready to show off your beautifully manicured hands.
